Is Gold Tone Metal Safe and Durable?
Yes. The medallion is made from high-quality gold tone metal — typically a brass or zinc alloy base with a rich electroplated gold finish. This material is widely used in challenge coins, commemorative medallions, awards, and collectibles. The metal is lead-free, nickel-free on the surface layer, and compliant with general safety standards for promotional merchandise.
The gold plating is applied via electroplating, creating a uniform, lustrous surface that resists tarnishing under normal handling conditions. A protective clear coat can be added for extra durability on frequently handled pieces.

Durability Highlights
Electroplated gold finish resists fading — The gold tone is bonded at the molecular level, not painted. No peeling or chipping with normal use.
Solid metal construction — Unlike plated plastic, this coin has genuine heft and will not crack, warp, or degrade over time.
Embossed border is molded as part of the die — The laurel wreath detail is stamped or cast into the metal. Sharp, permanent relief.
Edge profile is smooth and finished — No sharp burrs or unfinished edges. Comfortable to hold and handle.
Tarnish-resistant with clear coat option — For long-term display or frequent handling, a clear protective coating preserves the gold finish.
Every aspect of this gold metal medallion can be customized to match your brand identity, event theme, or organizational insignia. From the surface finish to the edge style and engraving depth, our factory offers complete tooling and finishing flexibility.

What is the minimum order quantity for a custom gold metal medallion like this?
For a brand-new custom design with a new die, the MOQ is 200 pieces per design. If you use our existing coin blank but add engraving only, the MOQ is as low as 50 pieces. For full-color enamel or complex finishing, the MOQ is 300 pieces.
How long does a sample take to arrive?
Once artwork is approved, we create the die in 5 – 7 working days and ship samples via DHL/FedEx. International delivery takes 3 – 7 working days. Total from artwork approval to sample in hand: roughly 10 – 14 working days.
Can I get this medallion in different sizes?
Yes. The standard diameter is 1.5" (38 mm) to 2.0" (50 mm). We can make coins from 1.0" (25 mm) up to 3.0" (76 mm). Larger sizes require a larger die and more material, affecting both die fee and unit cost.
What finish is best for everyday carry?
Matte brushed finish is the most practical for coins that are carried daily — it resists fingerprints, shows fewer small scuffs, and has a professional, understated appearance.
Can I combine different finishes on the same coin?
Yes. Two-tone coins with polished raised areas and matte recessed areas are very popular. We can also selectively apply different finishes to the front vs. back of the coin.
How do the colors hold up if I add enamel fill?
Epoxy enamel fill cures hard and bonds to the recessed metal surface. Colors are UV-stable and resist fading for 2 – 3 years of normal use. High-traffic items may show surface wear on the exposed metal areas over time.
Can I get a custom shape instead of round?
Absolutely. While round is the most popular for challenge coins, we can produce dies in any shape — shield, crest, star, custom outline, or brand logo silhouette. Custom shapes may have a higher die cost.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept T/T bank transfer (30% deposit + 70% balance), L/C at sight above $5,000, Western Union for samples, and PayPal for orders under $3,000. Net 30-day terms available for established customers on orders over $10,000.
Can I mix multiple designs in one order?
Yes. You can mix different coin designs in the same production batch, as long as each unique design meets its MOQ. This saves on shipping and customs clearance costs.
What if there is a quality issue after delivery?
We offer a 6-month quality guarantee. If the coin shows material defects (plating peeling, cracking, or engraving failure) within 6 months of delivery, we replace defective units free of charge.
Do you offer ribbon mounting or key ring attachment?
Yes. We can include a ribbon slot for medal hanging, or drill a small hole for key ring / lanyard / necklace attachment. Ribbon mounting and attachment hardware are not included but can be arranged.
Is this medallion lead-free and safe for handling?
Yes. The base alloy is lead-free and nickel-free on the plated surface. It is safe for routine handling and complies with general safety standards for promotional merchandise. Not recommended for children under 3 due to small part choking hazard.
