The lanyard strap is made from flat woven polyester — a synthetic fabric known for its strength, colour retention, and resistance to shrinking, stretching, and mildew. The polyester fibres are woven into a flat tape, then dyed or printed using dye sublimation (for full-colour designs) or screen printing (for spot colours). The hardware attachments are made from zinc alloy (metal buckles, D-rings, clasps) or ABS plastic (safety breakaway buckles). All metal components are electroplated to resist tarnish and corrosion.

Sublimation printing — Unlike screen printing (surface-level ink that can crack/peel), dye sublimation infuses ink into the polyester fibres at the molecular level. The colour becomes part of the fabric itself. It will never crack, peel, flake, or fade under normal use.

Flat woven construction — The strap is woven as a flat tube or solid tape, not cut from a wider sheet. This means the edges are woven and sealed (heat-cut), preventing fraying or unravelling even after washing and daily pulling.

Heat-sealed ends — All strap ends are heat-sealed (hot-knife cut) which melts the polyester fibres together, creating a clean, fray-proof edge. This is more durable than cut-and-fold or stitched ends.

Safety breakaway buckle — The magnetic or spring-loaded breakaway buckle releases at approximately 60 Newtons (≈13–14 lbs) of pull force. This is strong enough to hold an ID badge securely but releases if the lanyard gets caught on machinery, playground equipment, or during physical activity — preventing choking or neck injury.

Rust-resistant hardware — All metal components (D-rings, lobster claws, split rings) are electroplated with a corrosion-resistant finish. Nickel-plated hardware is also hypoallergenic — ideal for sensitive skin.

Washable — Polyester lanyards can be hand-washed with mild soap and air-dried. Sublimation-printed designs will not fade or run in cold water. Silk-screen prints may show minor fading after extended washing.

UV-resistant — The polyester fabric itself is UV-stable, meaning it will not degrade or become brittle even with prolonged sun exposure. Sublimation inks are also UV-resistant, maintaining colour vibrancy outdoors.

2. How long does it take to get a sample?

For a full-colour sublimation printed lanyard, the sample takes 5–7 working days from artwork approval, plus 3–7 working days for DHL/FedEx shipping. Screen-printed lanyard samples take 7–10 working days. Digital mockup provided before production.

3. What is the difference between sublimation printing and screen printing?

Sublimation printing infuses dye into the polyester fibres — permanent, never peels/cracks, unlimited colours, edge-to-edge. Screen printing applies ink to the fabric surface — limited to 1–4 colours, can crack/fade over time, but more economical for simple text in large quantities.

4. Do you offer eco-friendly / sustainable lanyards?

Yes. We offer recycled PET (rPET) polyester lanyards made from post-consumer plastic bottles. Also water-based sublimation inks, nickel-free hardware, biodegradable polybags, and kraft paper packaging with soy-based inks.
